The short version: AutoGift helps people you approve choose better gifts for you. They see gift ideas and a short reason, never your browsing, your settings, or anything you add. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or share it with advertisers.

Who we are

AutoGift (“we”, “us”) runs the website at www.autogift.app and the AutoGift browser extension. Questions? Email hello@autogift.app.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see your password).
Your gifting profile: interests, things to avoid, occasions and dates you add, budgets, relationship tags, gift rules, and your wishlist.
Connections: who you invited, who invited you, and the relationship tag you chose when approving someone.
Shopping signals from the extension, only on stores you allow: the product name, price, image, brand, category and link of product pages you open, and how long the page was on screen.
Feedback from gifters: when a gifter hides an idea or marks it as bought.
Basic technical data: standard server logs and, if enabled, anonymous page-visit counts, to keep the service running and secure.

What the extension never collects

The AutoGift extension reads nothing on a site until you allow that site. Even on allowed sites it reads only product pages. It never reads your searches, messages, emails, passwords, payment or checkout pages, or other websites, and it does not record your full browsing history. You can pause or remove any site, or delete your shopping data, at any time from My profile → Websites.

How we use it

To suggest gift ideas to the people you approve, filtered by the rules you set for each of them.
To send emails you’d expect: invitations, account emails, occasion reminders to your gifters, and a few setup tips. You can turn reminders off in your account settings or with the unsubscribe link in any reminder.
To keep AutoGift safe, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

What gifters can see

Gifters see only the gift ideas meant for them, with a short reason that never reveals what you looked at, saved or bought. They don’t see your interests list, rules, budgets, wishlist, website permissions, or shopping signals. When a gifter marks an idea as bought, your other gifters stop seeing it, so nobody buys the same gift twice. Gifters may receive a reminder before an occasion you added.

AI suggestions

To choose ideas, we send a summary of the relevant information (such as product names and prices from your signals and wishlist, your interests, upcoming occasions and the gifter’s rules) to Anthropic’s Claude API. We don’t send your email address or password. Anthropic processes it on our behalf to return suggestions and does not use it to train its models.

Who helps us run AutoGift

We use a small number of service providers, each only for its part of the service: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (sending emails), Anthropic (AI suggestions) and Cloudflare (domain and email forwarding). We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Shopping signals are deleted automatically after 180 days, or straight away when you remove a site or delete your shopping data.
Everything else is kept while you have an account. When you delete your account (My profile → Account → Delete my account), we delete your profile and data, apart from limited records we must keep for legal or security reasons.

Your choices and rights

You can see and edit your profile at any time, pause or remove stores, delete your shopping data, turn off reminder emails, remove approved gifters, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to some uses. Email hello@autogift.app and we’ll help.

Security

Your data is stored with access rules that let only you read your private information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.

Children

AutoGift is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and for significant changes we’ll let you know by email or in the app.
